MANE 2830 - Nuclear Phenomena for Engineering Applications


A survey of atomic and nuclear phenomena and their application in various engineering disciplines. Systematics of atoms and nuclei; nuclear reactions and their characterization; radioactive decay; fission and fusion energy release; radiation effects on materials and biological systems; radiation production, detection, and protection. Applications include energy production, manufacturing, and medicine.

Prerequisite: PHYS 1100 PHYS 1150  or PHYS 1110  and CHEM 1100 CHEM 1110  or CHEM 1120
