Third Year
Please note: The third year of the program varies depending upon which semester the student chooses to take away following The Arch Summer Semester classes. Please note the following differences in curriculum:
If students are going to be away during the Fall semester of their junior year, they should take the listed courses for each term and any courses under the Fall Away Track for year three of their program.
If students are going to be away during the Spring semester of their junior year, they should take the listed courses for each term and any courses under the Spring Away Track for year three of their program.
Footnotes
1 ENGR 1200 may be replaced with ENGR 1400
2 MGMT 1100 counts as the Management Elective for IME.
3 ISYE 1100 may be replaced with ENGR 1300 .
4 This course is only offered in the fall semester.
5 This course is only offered in the spring semester.
6 This course is only offered in the spring and summer semesters.
7 ADMN 1030 is a zero-credit course that may be taken in the second-year fall or spring term (or possibly first year for ACCEL students); satisfactory completion is a graduation requirement.
8 IME majors may substitute ENGR 2050 with MANE 2220
9 ISYE 4290 is only offered in the Spring and ISYE 4210 is only offered in the Fall. Thus, depending on away semesters, when these two courses are taken can be swapped.
10 ISYE 4600 is also offered in the Summer, so if away semester is in the fall, students should take this course in the summer.
11 For a list of courses that satisfy the Professional Development – Technical Issues & Solution requirement refer to the link “Professional Development Courses” on the Registrar’s “Academic Planning” web page. It should be completed before the capstone design course.
12 IME + BSAN majors must complete two additional Technical Electives from all non-required courses with an ISYE prefix at the 4000 or higher level (except ISYE 4940 ). The required courses with an ISYE prefix (ISYE 2210 , ISYE 2530 , ISYE 4140 , ISYE 4210 ,ISYE 4270 ,ISYE 4290 , ISYE 4500 , and ISYE 4600 ) cannot be technical electives. Courses may not be double-counted such as using ENGR 4760 for both the required course and the Technical Elective or using ISYE 4440 for both the Management Elective and the Technical Elective. Special undergraduate sections or regular graduate sections of 6000-level ISYE courses can also serve as technical electives except for ISYE 6600 , ISYE 6610 , and ISYE 6620 . Note that not all courses are offered every year. Notably, to fulfill the IME degree of at least 4 courses for at least 12 credits of technical electives, ECON 4570 /ECON 4280 and MGMT 4190 should be taken.
13 ECON 4570 may be replaced with ECON 4280 . ECON 4570 is a HASS Core Elective.
14 IME majors may select any 4-credit course with the designation ASTR, BCBP, BIOL, CHEM, ERTH, IENV, MATH, or PHYS to satisfy the science elective requirement.
15 IME majors may substitute ENGR 4010 and ISYE 4270 with MANE 4220 .
