Return to {$returnto_text} Return to: Programs

The Dual Major in Business and Management (BGMT) and Economics (ECON) provides students with a robust, interdisciplinary education that bridges the worlds of business strategy and economic theory. This innovative program is designed for those who seek to understand the intricacies of both organizational dynamics and the broader economic forces shaping markets and societies. By combining two essential disciplines, students will develop a comprehensive skill set in managing organizations while gaining deep insights into the economic systems that drive business success.

Through this dual degree, students will master core business concepts in areas such as finance, marketing, operations, and leadership, while simultaneously acquiring a solid foundation in microeconomics, macroeconomics, econometrics, and economic policy. The integration of these fields equips students to understand not only how businesses operate but also how economic trends, government regulations, and market behaviors influence business decisions and outcomes.

The curriculum emphasizes practical, real-world applications of both business and economic theories, preparing graduates to analyze complex data, evaluate market conditions, and make strategic decisions that drive organizational growth and economic progress. Students will also gain strong quantitative and analytical skills, making them well-equipped for careers in consulting, finance, entrepreneurship, government, and beyond.

This dual major is fulfilled by completing the curricular requirements of both the BGMT and ECON. It consists of core classes in BGMT and ECON. The students’ Science Core is fulfilled through the curriculum of the BGMT major, and students have flexibility in their curriculum with two free electives for deepening their learning in an area of their own choosing. Students are required to complete an internship as a part of their BGMT curriculum and an economics culminating experience as part of the ECON curriculum.
