This 30-credit STEM-designated degree program provides students with business knowledge and essential research skills needed to respond to the emerging challenges in the world today. Students will explore practically relevant research ideas, learn cutting-edge research methodologies and apply them through a required research core along with a thesis.

Elective courses will help students develop their understanding of the issues faced in today’s complex business environment.

Outcomes of the Graduate Curriculum

Students who successfully complete this program will be able to demonstrate:

  • competency in relevant business areas.
  • proficiency in management research techniques.
  • effective oral and written communication skills.
  • preparedness for professional careers or further graduate studies.

Course Curriculum


Required Research Core ( 6 credits)


Electives (18 credits)


• All courses must be at least 6000-level.

• A minimum of 6 credits must contain the MGMT prefix.

Research Project (6 credits)


Other Requirements


• A minimum of 18 of 30 credits must contain the MGMT prefix.

• Students must be registered for at least four semesters and take at least 3 credits of the required 6 MGMT 6980  credits in the fourth semester.

• Students who are jointly enrolled in the PhD in Management program may use their independent study and/or dissertation credits toward Master’s Project credits subject to the approval of the directors of both programs.
