ERTH 4080 - Advanced Geochemistry This course provides an in depth overview of geochemistry at both the advanced undergraduate and graduate level. It provides students to the scientific principles, concepts and methodologies required to understand the chemistry of the natural world, as well as to identify and analyze geological, planetary, and environmental problems and think critically about solutions for addressing them. Topics covered will include element formation and distribution, thermodynamics, isotopic geochemistry, and identifies long standing issues in geology. Case studies and projects will emphasize the investigation of geochemical questions and solutions. Labs include exposure to field equipment, techniques and analysis of data. This course is intended for fourth-year and grad students and includes a weekend field trip.
Prerequisite: ERTH 2140 or equivalent.
