ECON 6820 - Health Economics and Policy I Study the economic theory of health and health care, and its applications. Topics include the measurement and determinants of health; economics of uncertainty, adverse selection, and moral hazard; economic models of demand for healthcare and demand for insurance; key markets in the healthcare sector such as physicians, hospitals, and insurance companies; policy effects on the matching between health care demand and supply; and political economy and organizational reform in medical care.
Prerequisite: ECON 6720 and ECON 6740 ; or permission of instructor.
