BIOL 6100 - From Neuron to Behavior A detailed survey of important topics in the neurosciences. Some of the topics to be covered in this class are: basic mechanisms of neural signaling (neurophysiology, synaptic transmission, and molecular signaling; understanding of sensation/movement and in particular how it relates to neuroanatomy; neurodevelopment and how the mature brain can change (plasticity); and complex brain functions and neurological disease. Students prepare analyses and make a presentation of a paper in the original literature.
Prerequisites/Corequisites: Prerequisites: BIOL 1010 , BIOL 2120 or permission of the instructor.
When Offered: Fall term annually.
Co-Listed: BIOL 4100 . Since there is overlap associated with the 4100-course, students cannot take both BIOL 4100 and BIOL 6100 for credit.
