Semiconductor Technology and Manufacturing Program (STaMP) (Rensselaer at Work)

Return to {$returnto_text} Return to: Departments

The Semiconductor Technology and Manufacturing Program Graduate Certificate (STaMP) prepares professionals in the semiconductor industry with the knowledge and abilities important to a successful career throughout the semiconductor industry, from integrated device manufacturers to both fabrication and fabrication-less organizations.  The STaMP graduate certificate is comprised of a number of courses that are highly technical, while others are less technical, meaning courses in the certificate can be taken by both technically trained and non-technical professionals to update industry professionals throughout the semiconductor ecosystem.

Students in the program work on a series of applied projects that closely resemble the activities a professional in the field faces.  The program is taught by Rensselaer’s outstanding and highly ranked faculty who have extensive expertise in the advanced semiconductor industry. The program is built using a blended delivery methodology, bringing the best aspects of classroom and online learning together to deliver a unique project-based program – completely digitally, meaning that working professionals anywhere can participate fully in what is a personal and challenging experience. Not only do students learn the latest aspects of the profession, but they also gain experience through project scenarios and faculty mentorship.

Certificate Information

  • Completion of the program requirements results in a graduate-level certificate in Semiconductor Technology and Manufacturing Program (STaMP)
  • The certificate’s blended digital delivery and project-based approach reflect the dynamic current and future challenges of the industry.
  • Courses are taken for credit, and successful completion requires a GPA of 3.0 or greater.
  • Students may elect to take courses as a “non-degree seeking student,” but to obtain the certificate full admission to graduate study at RPI must be successfully completed.
  • Rensselaer Faculty guide the completion of course requirements.
  • Students completing this certificate may choose to later “stack” the certificate into the completion of degree programs according to each program’s requirements (see ewp.rpi.edu for details).
  • For additional information about application requirements and programs, visit the website https://ewp.rpi.edu/.

Students Completing this program are able to:

•Map the complexity of the semiconductor manufacturing process

•Evaluate technologies present in the semiconductor manufacturing process, such as lithography, photonics, optics, ion implantation, etching, metallization, power management, analog-to-digital conversion, and integrated circuits.

•Measure and evaluate elements through the manufacturing process – quality, metrology and inspection, stress, loss, and efficiency.

•Map how semiconductor devices are designed and deployed for different functions, as stand-alone and as system elements.

•Evaluate the production of integrated circuits process – manufacturing, packaging, and inspection.
