The Leading Change and Innovation certificate prepares engineers and scientists to lead change and product or process innovation processes within their organizations. The program uses applied projects to build abilities in leadership to plan, implement and evaluate progress toward developing new products and processes with existing and entrepreneurial organizations. Students learn to create and build leadership structures and cultures that encourage change and innovation to retain competitive advantage in complex organizations and industries.

Certificate Information
The certificate requires three 3-credit hour courses, for a total of 9 credit hours.
- The program results in a graduate-level certificate in Leading Change and Innovation.

The certificate’s blended online delivery reflects today’s dynamic workplace.

Courses are taken for credit, and successful completion requires a GPA of 3.0 or greater.

Practitioner faculty guide the completion of project work as it relates to student’s career objectives.

As each of the courses build upon prior courses, courses must be taken in sequence.

Students may choose to complete multiple certificates or apply certificates to other degree programs, according to each program’s requirements (for eligible programs, see program Web site at ewp.rpi.edu). The Leading Change and Innovation certificate may not be used to fulfill MBA program requirements.

Students completing this certificate are able to:
• Plan and implement complex projects using agile management methodologies.
• Lead change and innovation processes in complex and dynamic organizations.
• Demonstrate leadership best practices to communicate effectively in executive settings.
• Lead and inspire others using mentorship and coaching techniques to achieve optimal performance.
• Build and foster organizational culture to support change and innovation.
• Construct plans for innovation in new and existing products that meet a specific market need better than existing or competing products.
• Set and evaluate relevant metrics to evaluate performance.
