Astrobiology Minor

The Departments of Biological Sciences, Chemistry and Chemical Biology, Earth and Environmental Sciences, and Physics, Applied Physics and Astronomy, participate in a multidisciplinary minor in Astrobiology. The minor requires at least 16 credits. To complete the minor, students must complete the following:

ISCI 1510 Introduction to Astrobiology (3 credits)

ISCI 4510 Readings in Astrobiology and the Origins of Life (1 credit); taken at least 2 semesters

A 3-credit research project on a topic related to Astrobiology under the supervision of a RARE faculty member or other faculty member with permission of the RARE Director

ISCI 4610 Capstone in Astrobiology (1 credit)

At least two additional courses from the list below to bring the total credits to at least 16. These additional courses must be outside the major field of study*
