This degree program adopts a systems approach to provide students the knowledge and skills needed for a career in supply chain management.
The program prepares students to design and manage supply chains in manufacturing and service industries. This includes: perspectives and skills to design supply chains; strategies to optimize supply chain operations; opportunities to leverage information technology; and create effective demand fulfillment capabilities in firms.
The program is one year and 30 credits. The curriculum adopts an interdisciplinary focus and integrates concepts from industrial marketing, operations management, and information systems. The curriculum includes three parts: a business core, a supply chain core, and specialized electives that include real-world project-based courses that allow students to develop expertise in specific areas of supply chain management.
A two semester Professional Development Workshop series is also required to help students develop business communication, teamwork, leadership, and job search skills.
Outcomes of the Graduate Curriculum
Students who successfully complete this program will be able to:
- demonstrate knowledge about the analytical and quantitative elements of supply chain management (Optimization); apply cutting-edge optimization and analytical modeling techniques to design, optimize, and manage supply chains.
- demonstrate knowledge about the analytical and quantitative elements of supply chain management (Statistical and Financial Modeling); apply advanced statistical, econometric and financial modeling techniques to design, optimize, and manage supply chains.
- demonstrate knowledge about the analytical and quantitative elements of supply chain management (Technology); familiarity with the use and management of emerging technologies in supply chain management.
- demonstrate knowledge of strategic and functional aspects of supply chain management; knowledge of the strategic role of supply chains and the strategic issues and challenges in managing supply chains.
- demonstrate knowledge of strategic and functional aspects of supply chain management including the various functional areas of supply chain management such as sourcing, operations, logistics etc.
- use critical thinking and problem solving skills; critically analyze supply chain problems and recommend solutions for improvement.
- communicate effectively in writing in business and professional settings.
- demonstrate effective oral communication skills for presentations in business and professional settings.
