Return to: Programs
This minor consists of four or five courses and is designed to produce a new technology which brings jobs and economic development to a developing country. Students are immersed in problems involving new technology implementation, cultural understanding, economic growth and new buisness creation. Each of the courses includes a brief segment on the relevant social, economic, technological, and business opportunities and obstacles in the target country. The fourth course, Starting Up a New Business Venture, is taken last in the sequence and involves a four-week stay in a developing country at the end of that semester as part of the Short-term, Faculty-led student abroad program. During those four weeks, the students implement and monitor performance of the technology and business plan.
