Overview of composite materials technology and applications. Concepts of solid mechanics. Constitutive equations of anisotropic thermo-elasticity. Micromechanics of fibrous and particulate systems. Lamination theory: In-plane and out-of-plane response of symmetric and non-symmetric laminated plates. Thermal and hygrothermal effects. Test methods. Interlaminar stresses. Failure and damage. Joining of laminates. Laminated tubes. Design examples.
