BMED 6290 - Biomechanics of Hard Tissues Structure-property relationships for mineralized connective tissues of the human body. Discussion centers on various types of bone (e.g., lamellar, woven) with an emphasis on models for biomechanical behavior. Topics include elastic models for bone (isotropic and anisotropic), theories of yielding and fatigue, strength properties, composite and hierarchical models, and models of bone remodeling/modeling.
