COGS 6560 - Cross-linguistic Perspectives This course will explore the different strategies used by different languages to fulfill the same needs of human communication. A sampling of topics: quickly learning the basics of a new language using linguistic principles; cross-linguistic knowledge elicitation and engineering; principles of generative grammar; space, time, agency, and other linguistic phenomena viewed cross-linguistically.
Prerequisites/Corequisites: Graduate standing; background in languages or linguistics expected.
Co-Listed: COGS 4560 . Students cannot obtain credit for both COGS 4560 and COGS 6560.
