ARCH 4820 - Comprehensive Design Studio 1 The focus of this studio is the design and programming of a civic building in an urban setting. In this course, “students develop the ability to make design decisions within an architectural project while demonstrating synthesis of user requirements, regulatory requirements, site conditions, and accessible design, and consideration of the measurable environmental impacts of their design decisions.” NAAB (SC.5 Design Synthesis).
This course is required of all fourth-year architecture undergraduates in the B.Arch. Program.
Any student receiving a second ‘D’ in any design studio must repeat the second design studio and receive a grade of ‘C’ or higher to proceed to the next design studio.
Prerequisites/Corequisites: Prerequisite:ARCH 2550 and ARCH 2830
Corequisite: ARCH 4540 and ARCH 4320
