MANE 4250 - Space Vehicle Design This course introduces all elements of the spacecraft system design process from proposal preparation through detailed specification. Students are organized into design teams associated with different subsystems and tasks, to develop a solution to a space vehicle system problem of practical interest, by drawing on their background in aerospace engineering science and design. Topics include problem definition and requirement analysis, design specifications, concept development, reliability, materials considerations of alternative solutions, materials considerations, risk assessment and mitigation, manufacturability, mission analysis, and presentation skills. This is a communication-intensive course.
Prerequisites/Corequisites: MANE 4100 is strongly recommended but not required. Restricted to AERO and ASPC majors with senior standing; other majors are encouraged to request permission of the instructor based on interest and applicable background.
