CHEM 6610 - Natural and Biobased Polymers and Materials This course provides an introduction to natural and biobased polymers that have a broad range of uses such as biodegradable plastics, hydrogels, coatings, polymeric drugs and bioresorbable polymers. Topics discussed include an introduction to polymer science, natural building blocks, integration of biocatalytic and chemical synthetic methods, principles of green chemistry and sustainability. A working knowledge of organic chemistry and biochemistry is required.
