COGS 4560 - A Cross-Linguistics Perspective This course will explore the different strategies used by different languages to fulfill the same needs of human communication. A sampling of topics: quickly learning the basics of a new language using linguistic principles; cross-linguistic knowledge elicitation and engineering; principles of generative grammar; space, time, agency, and other linguistic phenomena viewed cross-linguistically.
Prerequisites/Corequisites: COGS 2340 - Introduction to Linguistics or permission of the instructor.
