ARCH 4340 - Structural Morphology This is a research-based course that examines the structural behavior of various complex systems and complex forms in the context of their performance. Innovative and emerging structural topologies are of special interest. A form-finding investigation and exploration will include computer evaluation, load testing of physical models, and laser scanning of the geometry to feed back into the computer models. In addition, the course will address fragility and robustness estimates. This work is individual or a group research project that may continue work from previous years. The course will also allow for architectural and structural explorations driven by specific student interests.
When Offered: Spring term annually.
