ARCH 6840 - Engineering Acoustics Introductory materials of engineering acoustics for students with basic knowledge in mathematics. Much of the course material is taken from the textbook “Acoustics for Engineers” by Blauert & Xiang. The course includes mechanic and acoustic oscillations, electromechanic and electroacoustic, magnetic- and electric-field transduction, wave equations in fluids, governing equations for horns and ducts, spherical sound sources and arrays, diffraction and scattering, dissipation, reflection, refraction and absorption, isolation of air- and structure-borne sounds, noise propagation and noise control. Differential equations is recommended.
