Biomedical Engineering Minor

The Department of Biomedical Engineering offers a minor in biomedical engineering for undergraduates majoring in other engineering and science fields. Students interested in the BME Minor must apply to and receive approval by the BME Department. The selection of the five courses required must have the prior approval of the department and must form a coherent program (minimum of 18 credits required).

 

Required courses for the BME Minor are:


Two elective courses should be chosen from one of the three concentration areas listed below:


Mechanical Concentration:


  • BMED 4xxx BioMEMS Credit Hours: 3
  • BMED 4xxx Mechanobiology Credit Hours: 3
  • BMED 4xxx Biomechanics of Hard Tissues Credit Hours: 3
  • BMED 4xxx Biomechanics of Soft Tissues Credit Hours: 3

Materials Concentration:


  • BMED 4xxx Biology and Engineering of the Extracellular Matrix Credit Hours: 4
  • BMED 4xxx BioMEMS Credit Hours: 3

Imaging/Instrumentation Concentration:


  • BMED 4xxx Biophotonics Credit Hours: 3
  • BMED 4xxx Introduction to Subsurface Sensing and Imaging Systems Credit Hours: 3
  • BMED 4xxx Integrated Sensors Credit Hours: 3
  • BMED 4xxx Physics of Radiology Credit Hours: 3
