BMED 4240 - Tissue-Biomaterial Interactions Relationships between structure and properties of synthetic implant materials, including metals, polymers, ceramics, and composites. The emphasis is on mechanical, corrosion, and surface properties of materials. Detailed review of blood-material interactions. An introduction to biocompatibility with special emphasis on the interaction of biomaterials with cells and tissues in the context of implant surface design and tissue engineering.
Prerequisites/Corequisites: Prerequisite: BMED 2100 may be taken concurrently.
